With a wealth of features not found in the more basic Labtec 1200 and 2200 Labtec webcams for laptops and PCs, the Labtec Webcam Pro is a budget-friendly, yet feature-intensive webcam that provides more overall satisfaction for just about double the price of either the 1200 or 2200. It is still available in the market, despite the fact that this model has been around for some time, and budget-conscious webcam customers should certainly take this product into consideration the next time they go shopping.
The Labtec Webcam Pro’s basic features include video capture for up to a 640 x 480 resolution, still image capture up to 1280 x 960, a built-in microphone, a VGA CMOS sensor that allows you to increase the resolution of your videos and pictures, and a manual focus lens. A built-in microphone enhances the sound, which is quite an improvement over the 1200 and 2200. Those with lower-end systems can certainly use the Webcam Pro – system requirements for the Webcam Pro are Pentium III PC with 500 MHz or better processor speed, Windows 98, ME, 2000 or XP, a USB port, a CD-ROM drive for installation, at least 75 MB of hard drive space and at least 128 MB RAM.
Let it be known that this is still an older model and a lot of newer webcams for laptops feature a whole lot more than this old Labtec Webcam Pro. Support for newer operating systems like Windows 7 are unfortunately not available on this webcam. Still, if it’s cheap webcams you want, you can’t get much better than the Webcam Pro, as it works with a lot of popular chat programs, including Yahoo! and MSN Messenger, AOL Instant Messenger, Windows Messenger and AIM. And as an added feature, the Webcam Pro includes motion detection software that allows you to use it as a security tool as well. Not bad for only about $20 to $30 worth of webcam!
